In 1959, two truly revolutionary albums forever changed music: Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue and John Coltrane’s Giant Steps. James "Jimmy" Cobb, the legendary drummer from both albums, unites with music director Mulgrew Miller and a capella masters Take 6 in a new interpretation of Kind of Blue, including “So What” and “Freddie Freeloader.” As if that wasn't enough, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) saxophonist Ted Nash debuts new arrangements of “Naima” and “Mr. P.C.” from Giant Steps, joined on stage by fellow JLCO saxophonists Walter Blanding and Sherman Irby.

On November 21, 2008 the Morrison Hotel Gallery and Sony Music Entertainment's ICON Collectibles will present "THE GENIUS OF MILES DAVIS...The Columbia Years," a photographic exhibition celebrating one of the 20th century's most profoundly influential musicians at the gallery's Bowery location. The exhibit will feature rare and never before seen limited edition fine art prints of Davis taken by Sony staff photographer Don Hunstein, Herman Leonard, Jim Marshall and Lee Wiener between 1955 and 1985.

In June of 1972, Miles Davis entered Columbia’s 52nd St. Studios to record music that was eventually released as On The Corner and part of Big Fun – stuff that was so far out and future perfect, it was its own genre. The world finally caught up. Now fans can experience The Complete On The Corner Sessions, a collection of over 6 1/2 hours of music covering Miles’ studio recordings from ’72 to ’75, whose reputation precedes it and retains the signature spirit of an artist ever-changing.

Part tribute and part rejuvenation project, 'Evolution Of The Groove' brings Miles Davis, the jazz trumpeter and composer responsible for 'Bitches Brew,' 'Birth of the Cool,' 'Kind of Blue' and many other classics, back to the fore. A precursor to a 6-CD box set 'Miles Davis: The Complete On The Corner Sessions,' the 'Evolution Of The Groove' remix EP premieres tracks with rapper Nas on vocals and his father Olu Dara on trumpet, Carlos Santana's guitar mastery, and an A-list contemporary music ensemble of Miles' nephew Vince Wilburn, Jr.
