Actor Don Cheadle has filmed movies around the world, so he's not totally surprised to be preparing to shoot his Miles Davis feature in Cincinnati.

"You have architecture and the look here that can approximate the era that we're shooting in Manhattan, which Manhattan doesn't really have a lot of anymore," said Cheadle in the Miles Ahead Downtown production office.

Don Cheadle recently launched an Indiegogo campaign for his long-in-development Miles Davis biopic, Miles Ahead, seeking to raise $325,000 towards the film's overall budget of under $10 million by July 6 to support the principal photography for the feature length film when it goes into production later this summer.

Artistically unpredictable and personally mercurial, jazz genius and American icon Miles Davis lived an impossible-to-pin-down life. For years, it seemed the same was true about Miles Ahead, Don Cheadle's long-in-the-works biopic. Now though, the project is locking into a steady groove. Cheadle, who will direct the film, and his collaborators, which include Davis' nephew Vince Wilburn, Jr. and musical giant Herbie Hancock, recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to help raise funding for the effort.
