Miles is visited by arranger Sy Johnson, who records their conversation and publishes it as “An Afternoon at Miles’s” in 1976 in Jazz magazine. Johnson provides a disarmingly candid portrait of Miles, capturing the details of his life as a bachelor, dealing with health challenges, hangers-on, being alternatively generous and embittered.
