On Tuesday, December 16th, US Lawmakers voted 409-0 to pass a symbolic resolution honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure.

The measure praises the landmark album’s “unique contribution” to jazz and urges the US government to “take all appropriate steps” to preserve and promote jazz.

Originally released on August 17th, 1959, Miles Davis’ landmark album is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and is the bestselling album in Jazz history
