Miles Davis House Rolls-Out At SXSW With Headliner Lucinda Williams & Multi-Genre Buzz Bands

A Genre Bending Odyssey — The Ultimate Jam Session

MILES DAVIS HOUSE ROLLS-OUT AT SXSW WITH HEADLINER LUCINDA WILLIAMS & A WIDE ARRAY OF MULTI-GENRE BUZZ BANDS,

INCLUDING RES, NICOLE ATKINS, THE DOLLS FT. THE ORIGINAL PINETTES BRASS BAND, CHEERS ELEPHANT, MAJESTICO & NILES RIVERS

Hosted & Curated By The Miles Davis Family, In The Spirit Of Miles, An Artist Who Was Undefined by Critics & Genre, As He Changed The Course Of Music Five Times

(Austin, TX) – Miles Davis House rolled-out at SXSW with critically-acclaimed GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams headlining, along with a wide array of multi-genre buzz bands, including Res, Nicole Atkins, The Dolls Ft. The Original Pinettes Brass Band, Cheers Elephant, Majestico and Niles Rivers.

The interactive day party, hosted and curated by the Miles Davis family (Cheryl Davis, Erin Davis and Vince Wilburn, Jr.) at Trinity Hall at Old School, was presented as “a genre-bending odyssey” and “the ultimate jam session.” Just as Miles Davis changed the course of music five times and bypassed genre, as the only so-called jazz artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone; and to be placed on Rock bills by the late Bill Graham, the artists selected to perform are also progressive visionaries and iconoclasts, who are pushing art and culture forward, while not being stuck in one lane.

The spotlight is currently on Miles Davis with the recent announcement of the Miles Davis biopic going into production this June, starring Don Cheadle, Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana. The accompanying soundtrack is expected to feature contemporary musicians and other interesting collaborations. Additionally, the city of New York will re-name 77th St. on the Upper West Side as “Miles Davis Way” to honor the iconic genius at his former place of residency this year.

On March 25, a 4 CD box set will be available entitled MILES AT THE FILLMORE – Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3, presenting four nights of historic performances at legendary Fillmore East in New York in their complete form for the first time. Additionally, over two hours of previously unissued music, including bonus tracks that were recorded at Fillmore West will be featured.

Davis has long been noted for his restless artistic aesthetic, which played into his changing the course of music five times, his continued status as a fashion icon, and his globally recognized artworks, which most recently have been featured in Paris, Brazil, Montreal, Napa and Los Angeles to outstanding acclaim. A quintessential Renaissance Man, Davis continues to break records as the U.S. Postal Service’s most successful and fastest-selling iconic stamp in recent years, with more than 23 million sold to date.

Miles Davis House at SXSW was presented by the Miles Davis Estate, Columbia/Legacy Recordings and Clamorhouse Productions. Dogfish Head craft brewed ales provided Bitches Brew beer for the artists performing and for special audience giveaways.
