COMMENTS:        Internationally renowned icon Miles Davis is one of the most innovative, influential and respected figures in the history of music. Though it’s been 50 years since the release of Kind of Blue, the most significant and best selling jazz record of all time, and Sketches of Spain, his master collaboration with arranger-composer Gil EvansDavis remains the sole ambassador of the trumpet and still represents all that is cool in music, art, fashion and style.   His renegade spirit, unbridled passion and musical genius helped put 1959 on the map as the greatest year in jazz, music, arts and culture.  In so doing, he also paved the way for new generations of musicians and artists who embraced his vision of reaching for excellence, and never looking back.  His wide appeal continues to cross all musical genres, demographics and socio-economic boundaries, as he defies category.  In essence, he is, the original punk rocker.   Join us in exploring the timeless phenomena that is Miles Davis, the year 1959, and how the cycle repeats itself and connects to the present year in music, arts and culture.
