Polyps Surgery

Miles undergoes surgery to remove polyps, and is told by medical staff not to talk while his throat heals. He gets into a screaming match with the manager of Birdland, damaging his vocal chords to the point that his voice changes. The resulting raspy, whispered aspect to his voice is part of his identity for the rest of his life.
