Plans are underway to honor Miles Davis with a bronze statue in his birthplace of Alton, Illinois, and here is a first look at an artist rendering of the statue to be created by sculptor Preston Jackson. The artwork pictures the statue on West Third Street in Alton's downtown entertainment district.

“Miles was my all-time favorite photographic subject in any category because I was unable to take an uninteresting picture of this man’s face. He had such a great quality about him that was interesting from any angle.” – Herman Leonard

Jazz icon Miles Davis may be remembered as a trumpet-wielding master by most, but a new exhibition reveals his finesse with an entirely different set of instruments: pen and paper, brush and canvas.
Miles Davis: The Art of Cool opened Saturday at the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville, Calif., showcasing 35 of the legend's original sketches and paintings.
Known as one of the greatest, most influential jazz musicians of all time, Miles Davis was also an acclaimed artist. In the first US exhibition of his artwork, the Napa Valley Museum and the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater present "Miles Davis: The Art of Cool" (June 8-July 28) featuring 35 of the artist's original sketches and oil paintings.
