From May 6 - May 27, 1957, Miles Davis booked a series of sessions at Columbia's 30th Street Studio to work on "Miles Ahead," the first of his collaborations with arranger/composer Gil Evans, who wove together the album's ten individual pieces into a continuous jazz suite.
