Vince Wilburn, Jr. And Quincy Jones At The Hollywood Bowl Wednesday Night
Vince Wilburn, Jr. (nephew of Miles Davis) re-connected with close family friend and Miles collaborator, Quincy Jones, Wednesday night at the Hollywood Bowl.
The multi-faceted Jones brought out his quintessential mix of genres from big band, pop, R&B and hip-hop in a rare, one-off performance featuring reigning "Queen of Latin Pop," Gloria Estefan, Brazilian percussionist Paulinho Da Costa, bassist Nathan East, and vocalist Seiko Matsuda, who joined the supreme line-up of artists including the soulful group The Brothers Johnson, jazz singer Patti Austin, jazz bassist Richard Bona, Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, Canadian jazz-pop singer Nikki Yanofsky and the Quincy Jones All-Star Big Band.
Vince was also on hand to visit his friends performing with Quincy, including percussionists Francisco Mela and Paulinho Da Costa; Trombonist Reggie Young; drummer John J.R. Robinson; drummer Greg Fields, and Quincy Jones protégé, pianist Emily Bear.
