“CBGB’S TALKS” FEATURES AN INTIMATE DIALOGUE WITH THE MILES DAVIS ESTATE, HOSTED BY AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST ALAN LIGHT

WHAT:
“CBGB’S Talks” features an intimate dialogue with the Miles Davis Estate, including Erin Davis (son of Miles) and Vince Wilburn, Jr. (nephew of Miles), hosted by award-winning journalist Alan Light. The Q&A will offer a rare glimpse into the psyche of an iconic, music legend, as told by close family members who have both toured and recorded with Miles.

Some of the topics to be covered include, the much-anticipated, long-awaited “Miles Ahead” film, starring Don Cheadle and Ewan McGregor, which recently wrapped, along with GRAMMY winner Robert Glasper’s new role as producer of the accompanying re-mix album; The critically acclaimed, award winning Miles At The Fillmore – Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Three Series, Vol. 3, recipient of a 2014 Downbeat Critics Poll award for “Top Historical Album”; the recent NYC street dedication of West 77th Ave. to “Miles Davis Way,” and other insightful nuggets that defined the artist responsible for changing the course of music five times.

Erin Davis is a Los Angeles-based musician/producer/composer who heads Davis Artists Group and runs Miles Davis Properties, LLC along with his sister (Cheryl Davis) and his cousin (Vince Wilburn, Jr.). He has also toured and recorded with Miles Davis and is an executive producer on “Miles Ahead”. His music credits include producing the original music for the Richard Pryor documentary “Omit The Logic,” which won a NAACP Award for “Best Documentary.” Previously, he was a drummer for the EMI Records recording group Bloodline, an all-star rock group featuring the offspring of famous musicians, including GRAMMY-nominated blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa.

Vince Wilburn, Jr., founder of MilesLike, Inc. is a highly accomplished drummer and producer, who has both toured and recorded with Miles on many legendary recordings from 1984 through 1987, including: The GRAMMY winning album “AURA” — which he co-produced; “Decoy” – which he also co-produced; “You’re Under Arrest”, and the 2008 GRAMMY nominated “Miles From India” – which hit #8 on the Billboard jazz charts. He also toured internationally with the All-Star “Miles From India” ensemble to sell-out crowds, in addition to the Miles Electric Band, receiving a five minute standing ovation at SJ Jazz Center, and also selling-out the Hollywood Bowl during A Miles Davis Celebration. He is also a producer on “Miles Ahead.”

Alan Light is the author of the forthcoming Let’s Go Crazy: Prince and the Making of Purple Rain (to be published in November). The former Editor-in-Chief of Vibe and Spin magazines, he is a frequent contributor to the New York Times and Rolling Stone. Light is also the author of The Holy or the Broken: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley and the Unlikely Ascent of “Hallelujah,” and is a two-time winner of the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award for excellence in music writing
